ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

The Mornington Peninsula is known for its pristine beaches, world class wineries and vibrant cafe scene but did you know that it also has one of the highest rates of youth unemployment in Australia. It also has, at any given moment, 200 unfilled jobs in hospitality.

The opportunity to find meaningful employment is out of reach for many of our communities most at risk young people. Whether it is a lack of public transport, inadequate training or simply low self-belief, the challenge of finding a good job is a real and present issue facing many of our youth.

That’s where we come in.

Birthed with a vision to champion the strengths of our local community. Home ground provided on-the-job training and employment pathways for young people in our community.

Home Ground aims to bridge the gap between our unemployed youth and the opportunity of a career in our region's hospitality industry.

Now operating for over five years, HomeGround has helped and supported a host of young people to undertake our traineeship program and gain ongoing employment. Starting in 2018 with 4 young people, HG has now had over 80 young people walk through its doors and benefit from our hospitality training program, as well as building their interpersonal skills and workplace presentation. We are certified as a social enterprise by Australia’s peak body Social Traders.
